VIPete’s Infiniti Q45

posted by Pete on November 14th, 2006

So I decided to do a write up for my build for EXELIFE. I’ve been building for the past 2 or so years and might I say.. my tastes changed a lot since then.

I guess I can thank the people I’m around. Friends who influence me positively because they know what’s right when building a project. This is my build currently.

Current mods-

Wheels and Tires:
19×9 on 225/35
19×10 on 245/35
Work Wheel Euroline DH’s

I’d like to thank Jayson Pizarro for helping me out with the wheel fitment for this car (btw, offsets are still secret). Many have guessed and never got it right. IMO, the wheel fitment sits pretty much near perfect on the car for the look I was going for. Mildly aggressive and still commands attention.

If you must ask, I don’t rub at all (due to the proper wheel Size, Offset, Ride Height, Camber, Tire Size and Alignment). Thanks to Dat (Speed Alliance) for cutting my fenders still keeping the stock/clean fender to house my wheels.

For tires…special thanks to Nick, Greg and Mickey at Falken tire for providing the rubber. I’ve seen tires from other manufactures stretched on a good sized wheel, but there’s something about the Falken sidewall (to me at least) that finishes the look off perfectly. Not to mention, the tires are an excellent product. Falken (I’m sure you already know) is setting the standard in VIP. I’m glad to be running their product.

Suspension:
JIC FLTA2 VIP

Ben over at JIC MAGIC USA (got to say what’s up to Yukio and Paul) provided me with the suspension. These coilovers are probably the best for the buck coils you can get if you’re building a VIP project and don’t want to go with air. You can go low low! I even sat so low… my oil tank was probably 3 inches off the ground!

For example: During the 2005 SD Auto show, Chris from Speed Alliance dropped a rope dividing pole so I can leave the venue. Well so it happens, the pole got stuck under my car. LOL –

Ok back to JIC’s FLTA2’s, these coils ride great once they are properly tuned to your personal ride taste. So if you’re in the market for coils, look into JIC VIP. After all, a good number of the Y33 VIP cars in Japan are running on JIC as well.

Exterior:
WALD Executive Line lip kit

I have to be honest, I’m not too fond with this body kit. It looks nice and all, but I encountered some styling issues I wasn’t expecting from running this kit. I guess it’s my personal style, but I wasn’t feeling how it made my car look. So for now, my plans are to sell this kit (painted and fitted) and go with a full kit (AIMGAIN– yes indeed).

Special thanks to Sinh and Hahn over at Sinful Enhancements Auto body in San Diego, they always take care of me and made this JDM kit fit my U.S. spec front and rear bumpers. Sinh is a master painter and painstakingly took his time matching the pearl on my Q45. If you’re in San Diego and want some professional show winning body work done on your car, hit up www.sinfulenhancements.com

Graphics:
Ryan from Trap One put in his artistic ability with providing special vinyl for the VIP taste. I have to still represent my sponsors and keep that VIP classy look. I can’t have crazy vinyl spocom designs on a VIP car. Although for those who remember… my Speed Alliance ghost graffiti graphics were bad ass. BAD ASS!

The future:
Well this is how my car stands right now, and many changes are in the works. I’ll chronicle my builds in later blogs to come.

What’s to come:
New Wheels? — Possibly
New Suspension? — Air? Maybe (still looking)
New Kit — Of course (AIMGAIN.. here I come)
New Muffler? — one word, SUPREME

I also look forward to working with OneTonGarage. Van’s really knowledgeable and his know-how is excellent. I recommend OTG to anyone who is seriously willing to go all out with their project.
