TORRANCE, Calif. — The 2006 Scion xB Release Series 4.0 will start at $16,500 for models equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission; models with a five-speed manual transmission will start at $16,550. Prices include a $540 destination charge.
The xB is outfitted with a 103-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
Scion says the xB Release Series 4.0 will hit showrooms in November. It will come in Maziora Torched Penny exterior paint. Maziora, by Nippon Paint, is a “polarized paint line that changes color depending on the viewing angle or light reflection,” Toyota said. The color was featured on a Japanese domestic special-edition xB and has been used on Scion project and show cars.
The xB R.S. 4.0 is equipped with color-keyed taillights, rear spoiler, Modellista speed grille and Release Series wheel covers. Interior cues include Release Series badged floor mats and a multicolor under-dash light and cupholder kit. A color-keyed Razo shift knob is standard on manual-transmission models.
The special model comes with an individually numbered brushed stainless steel badge.
Toyota says the xB Release Series 4.0 model is priced $1,930 over the base price for the xB models with automatic transmission and $1,980 for models with a manual transmission. The base pricing for the xB starts at $14,570, including destination.
What this means to you: This is the last gasp for the xB. Scion will launch two new models in the spring to replace the current xA and xB.
